In the quiet of the night, dreams take flight Step our step or find our way, the future's bright With each sunrise, we grow, we shine Patience is the key In this journey of mine, hold on tight Let your spirit rise We're on a journey, one step at a time With every heart we will start into climb No need to rush, let our dreams unfold In the warmth of patience, our stories are told Every little movement, like the ocean's tied Persistence in our hearts, we take it in stride With hope in our souls, we keep pressing on Slowly but surely we'll find where we belong Trust the process, don't lose sight We're on a journey, one step at a time With every heart we will start into climb No need to rush, let our dreams unfold In the warmth of patience, our stories are told So breathe and deep, let the rhythm flow With every moment we're destined to climb We're on a journey, one step at a time With every heart we will start into climb No need to rush, let our dreams unfold In the warmth of patience, our stories are told So breathe and deep, let the rhythm flow With every moment we're destined to climb No need to rush, let our dreams unfold
Short Story
*A story about trusting a road before you're allowed to see its end*
When the new road to the next village was finally announced, twelve-year-old Inácio expected it to be finished within weeks. Instead, the work stretched on for almost two years — clearing, grading, laying stone, season after slow season.
"This is taking forever," he complained to the foreman, an old, unhurried man named Sr. Camões who had built roads his entire life. "Why is it so slow?"
"Because a road built in a hurry is a road that fails in five years instead of fifty," Sr. Camões said, not looking up from the stretch he was carefully leveling. "I can't show you the finished road yet. I can't even promise you exactly what day it will be done. All I can ask is that you trust the process happening right now, even though the only evidence you have is dirt and stone and waiting."
"That's hard to trust."
"It's the hardest kind of trust there is," Sr. Camões agreed. "Trusting something you can already see finished is barely trust at all — that's just observation. Real trust is believing in a road before there's any proof it will ever connect anywhere, based only on the fact that the work, day after slow day, is being done honestly."
Inácio watched the road grow, painfully slowly, through two full years of his childhood — and when it finally opened, smooth and solid beneath his feet, connecting his village to the next one in a way that changed both places permanently, he understood, finally, what all that waiting had actually been.
"Was it worth being so patient?" he asked Sr. Camões, walking the finished road together.
"Patience isn't really about being worth it," the old man said. "It's about trusting the road long before you're allowed to see where it goes — and discovering, eventually, that the trust was the only way the road could have ever been built well at all."

*The longest, most important roads can never be rushed. They ask us to trust the slow work happening right now, long before we're given any proof of where the road actually leads.*
